Preston Rentals Delivers Seamless Material Handling Strategy for New OHSU Building – SuperDeck 3.2 and 4.2

Preston Rentals partnered once again with Skanska Group to overcome complex material handling challenges on the $200 million expansion of the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). Faced with only one viable access point and the demanding task of transporting large, heavy items into the new medical facility, Skanska needed a solution that would ensure they could move materials in and out of the building despite the space constraints.

Preston Rentals had just the solution, supplying four of our SuperDeck® 3.2s. These decks were selected for their capability to handle heavy and oversized materials like HVAC units, glass panes, and plasterboard, while navigating the building’s tight angles. As the project evolved, Skanska required even larger materials to be delivered. To accommodate this, Preston Rentals swiftly upgraded one of the 3.2 decks to a SuperDeck® 4.2, our widest loading platform. This ensured that oversized components could be easily transported into the building, maintaining project momentum without compromising on safety or efficiency.

Our SuperDeck® platforms will remain on-site for the next 10 months, ensuring that Skanska can continue to deliver materials efficiently as construction progresses. This project exemplifies our commitment to providing flexible and innovative solutions for complex material handling challenges. We’re proud to support Skanska’s efforts in building vital healthcare infrastructure and look forward to our continued collaboration.

Preston Rentals Helps Rolex HQ Redevelopment Stay Ahead of the Clock with Efficient Material Handling – SuperDeck® 2.6, 3.2, and 4.2

Preston Rentals was tasked with providing a critical material handling solution for the ambitious redevelopment of Rolex Headquarters at 665 Fifth Avenue, a project set to transform the iconic site into a towering, 28-story symbol of luxury in Midtown Manhattan. The redevelopment posed significant challenges, including the need to safely and efficiently deliver heavy concrete materials like rebar, forms, and shoring into a building with limited and varying-sized access points. The congested urban environment of Midtown Manhattan further complicated the task, demanding a tailored, space-efficient material handling solution.

Preston Rentals provided the perfect solution by supplying one SuperDeck® 2.6 and one SuperDeck® 3.2, both ideal for navigating the different-sized entry points while maintaining maximum efficiency. These decks not only optimized material delivery, but facilitated debris removal from multiple floors, and significantly reduced crane hook time. Preston Rentals will install a SuperDeck® 4.2 in late October, ensuring seamless handling of even larger materials as construction progresses. We’re proud to support Pavarini McGovern as they build a new symbol of luxury in the heart of Manhattan.
